About NASA Space Apps Challenge

The NASA International Space Apps Challenge is a global hackathon where NASA experts present challenges related to real-world problems on Earth and in space. Participants from around the world form teams to develop innovative solutions using NASA's and its Space Agency Partners' open data during a two-day event.

Since its inception, Space Apps has engaged over 220,000 registrants from more than 185 countries and territories. Initially focused on space science and technology, the event expanded in 2017 to include Earth science and technology, arts, and humanities challenges. This inclusivity has led to record participation and an increase in projects blending technology and art themes.

NASA collaborates with international space agency partners to foster global collaboration, providing a broader platform for participants to contribute to science and technology. The Space Apps Challenge inspires the next generation of problem solvers, innovators, leaders, and entrepreneurs.
